OBITUARY
Mrs. MARGARET CONN
The death took place last Thursday evening of Mrs. Margaret Conn, relict of the late Mr. Robert Conn, who passed away at her residence, 'Hillview,' Comobella, after a very lengthy illness. The Conn family is one of the best known and most highly respected in the Wellington district, the parents being pioneers of the district. The late Mrs. Conn, who was 75 years of age, had resided in this district for over half a century, and during that time had seen many changes take place. With her late husband they lived on the land at Comobella and reared a
large family of sons and daughters, who are well known throughout the district. The late Mrs. Conn had not enjoyed the best of health for some time, and although she had received the best of care and attention, she gradually grew weaker and eventually passed away as stated.
She is survived by a grown-up family of sons and daughters, the former being Messrs J. A. Conn (Lahy's Creek, Gulgong), Robert Conn (Comobella), F. L. Conn (Coonabarabran), E. S. Conn (Comobella), B. V. Conn (Lahy's Creek) ; the daughters being Mrs. Albert (Peak Hill), Mrs. J. W. Ross (Gollan), and Miss Edith Grace Conn (Comobella). The remains were encased in a polished maple casket and taken to the Methodist Church, where, after a short service by the Rev. R. E. S. Taylor, the body was laid to rest in the family enclosure of the Methodist portion of the Wellington cemetery, the services at the graveside being read by the Rev. R. E. S. Taylor. The funeral arrangements were carried out by C. J. Shakespeare and Sons.

Elizabeth (Lizzie) Hollow
F, b. 1861, d. 25 March 1935

Elizabeth Court nee Hollow (1861-1935)
Elizabeth was born at
Mudgee, N.S.W., AUS, in 1861.
1 As of 26 December 1886,her married name was Court. She married
John Court at
Gulgong, N.S.W., AUS, on 26 December 1886. Elizabeth died on 25 March 1935 at
Wellington, N.S.W., AUS.
MRS. ELIZABETH COURT.
The old residents of the district
are gradually passing away to their
last resting place. They were men and women who blazed the track for the present generation. The latest to go is Mrs. Elizabeth Court, wife of Mr. John Court, of Gollan, who had reached her 74th milestone.
This fine old lady went to her reward on Monday last, after a long illness, which extended over 20 months, during which time she showed wonderful fortitude, typical of our great pioneers. Towards the end she contracted pneumonia, and
this proved too much for her ebbing strength, and she passed away
peacefully, surrounded by her husband and family, who had bestowed upon her the best care and attention during her long illness. The late Mrs. Court was a native of Canadian, in the Gulgong district, and she was married at Gulgong. She and her husband went to live at Gollan, and from the virgin land they successfully carried on one of the best farms in the district. She had resided at this home for the past 48 years, and, naturally, during that period, she had seen many changes take place, the wild bush around them being gradually taken up by pioneers like themselves, clearing the way for the present generation.
What a contrast there is to-day in the tilling of the soil and general farm work, compared to when this grand old lady first went on the land with her husband! She was a model wife and a loving mother, and a friend to all with whom she came in contact. She will be greatly missed in the district. She is survived by a husband and grown-up family of sons and daughters. The latter are, Mrs. Green (Sydney), Mrs. Ida Yeo (Gollan), Mrs. James Lockrey
(Gollan), Mrs. Campbell (Gollan) the sons being Messrs Norman and James, both of Gollan. Her sisters are Mrs. Fleeting (Balgowlah Manly) Mrs. Williams (Bondi), Mrs. Sams (Bondi), Mrs. Warton (Bondi).
The late Mrs. R. Conn, of Comobella, who died about six weeks ago, was a sister. Her brothers are Mr. George Hollow (Gollan) and Messrs P. and J. Hollow, both of Canandian.
The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon, the remains being encased in a polished maple casket, and were laid to rest in the Baptist portion of the Wellington cemetery, the funeral being a large and representative one. The services at the graveside were read by Rev. J. Hunter. The funeral arrangements were carried out by C. J. Shakespeare and Sons.

MR. JOHN HOLLOW.
The news of the sudden death of Mr. John Hollow, of Gollan, on Tuesday last came as a great shock to his many friends in Wellington and surrounding district. Though he had been under the care of his medical adviser for some little time past, no one thought the end was so near.
On Tuesday last he did not feel too well, and during the afternoon he had occasion to attend to a chaffcutter, and while doing so he suddenly collapsed and died before he could be attended to by a medical man, though one was quicldy on the spot. The late Mr. Hollow, who was 62 years of age, had followed farming pursuits for a number of years, and always took an active interest in the welfare of the district, being a prominent member of the Farmers and Settlers' Association,
also the M.U.I.O.O.F. He was a man well liked by all with whom he came in contact, and he will be greatly missed by his legion of friends He is survived by a wife and grown-up family, the sons being Messrs Jack and Eric, of Gollan, and the daughters, Mrs. Len Jordan, Spicer's Creek, and the Misses
Muriel and Dorothy Hollow. Mr. George Hollow, of Spicer's Creek, is a brother. The remains were encased in a polished oak coffin and brought to the funeral parlours of Mr. C. J. Shakespeare, where the funeral cortege left yesterday for the Baptist portion of the local cemetery. The funeral was a large and representative one, and there was a car present for every year he had lived. viz., 62, no other kind of vehicle taking part. Amongst the beautiful wreaths placed on the coffin were those of the family, Gollan M.U.I.O.O.F., Farmers and Settlers' Association, and one from Mr. and Mrs. P. Williams and family, thus showing the great respect in which the deceased was held in the town and district.
The services at the graveside were read by the Rev. J. Hunter. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. C. J. Shakespeare.

Mr. James H. Hollow
The death on July 11 of Mr. James Henry Hollow, of 'Rose Neath, Canadian Lead, is deeply mourned. Born at Canadian Lead 74 years ago, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Hollow, and lived at Canadian Lead all his life. Although he had been ailing for & number of years past, his death came unexpectedly and shocked the family relatives and- friends. His was a peaceful death at his home; only a few hours before he had been playing cards. Following a nasty attack of his illness he passed away shortly after he had been at tended to by his doctor in response to an urgent summons. The late Mr. Hollow was of a retiring disposition and very fond of his home. Many a person could say with a full heart: 'He was my friend, faithful and just to me.' They owed much, to his friendship and to his understanding, always freely and informally given. Deceased, like most of the early settlers, was noted for his industry and honesty of purpose. He was born with all the fundamental decencies and honesties that go to make up a gentleman. His life was devoted to his property, his wife and family and his and their friends, and he treated everyone with the respect due to them. He has left behind him a good name and honored memory.
Prior to the cortege leaving for the Church of England portion of the Gulgong Cemetery, a service was conducted in St. Luke's Church of England by the Rector (Rev. Howard Ellis). Funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. D. Whale: (Gulgong Motor Funerals). Deceased is survived by a widow, a son, Victor, and a daughter, Mrs. P. (Gladys) Edwards, of Glen Innes. A daughter, Daphne, died some years ago. Two grandchildren survive vis., Victor and Margaret Edwards. Also the following sisters: Mrs. Kate Bougen (Sydney), Mrs. Fleeting (Balgowlah), and Mrs. Mary Warton (Bondi). Our deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved.
