Born in Lynn on May 20, 1933, he was the son of the late Thomas and Florence (Fay) Hollow. He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1951. He went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Tom owned and operated Tom's Variety Store on Walnut Street in Lynn for nearly 45 years.
An avid woodworker, he enjoyed making Adirondack chairs, picnic tables and other wood products. He enjoyed horses and dogs, and spent many Sundays at horse shows watching his daughters compete.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Hollow.1

HOLLOW, John F., Sr. "Jack"
Chief John F. "Jack" Hollow, Sr., 82, former Police Chief of Lynn, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021.
He was the beloved husband of Mary M. (Kelter) Hollow, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Jack was born on December 20, 1938 in Lynn, son of the late Thomas and Florence (Fay) Hollow.
He was raised and educated in Lynn, attending Sacred Heart Grammar School where he met his wife Mary, in the first grade, and St. Mary's High School, Class of 1956. He went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree from Northeastern University, and a Master's Degree from Ana Maria College.
He began his career at Cambridge Electric, where he worked as a Boiler Operator Auxiliary Tender for 10 years.
He joined the Lynn Police Department Reserve in 1966 before becoming a Patrolman in 1969. Throughout the years, he served in many positions at the department, including K9 officer with his two dogs Shannon and Flip, Sergeant in 1976, Lieutenant in 1979, and Captain in 1985, ultimately becoming Chief of the Department in 1987.
He served as Chief with dignity and integrity until his retirement in 2000. Aside from his work, he enjoyed travelling to Las Vegas and California; golfing, especially as a member at the Gannon Golf Course, where he once earned himself a hole-in-one on the 14th hole, but most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his loving family.
Besides his loving wife Mary; he is survived by Three daughters, three sons, twelve grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was laid to rest at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Lynn on Monday November 29.

Mr. William J. "Bill" Hollow, age 71, of Lynn, died on Monday January 6, 2014, at Rosewood Rehabilitation, Peabody, with his family at his side, after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Suzanne (Peters) Hollow, with whom he shared 39 years of marriage.
A lifelong resident of Lynn, he was the son of the late Thomas and Florence (Fay) Hollow. He was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1962, and was also the captain of the Lynn Lions Football Team during the 1961-1962 season.
Bill was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War.
Following his service in the Navy, Bill had worked for a short time at Polaroid and GE until he founded and ran his own company "Bill Hollow Appliance Co." for over 30 years. He then had worked for the Lynn School Department as a Custodian for 14 years until his retirement.
He enjoyed watching sports and spending time at home with his family.1

Suzanne Peters
Mrs. Suzanne I. (Peters) Hollow, age 59, of Lynn, died Sunday April 16, 2006 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, after a lengthy illness. She is the wife of William J. “Bill” Hollow, with whom she shared 39 years of marriage. Born in Lynn, she is the daughter of the late Arthur L. and Eleanor M. (Deveau) Peters.
She was raised in Swampscott and is a graduate of Swampscott High School, class of 1964 and Salem State College, class of 1968. She has lived in Lynn for the past 39 years.
Mrs. Hollow worked as a teacher for the Chapter 766 program, a special education program in the Lynn School system. She also worked briefly for General Electric in Lynn. In 1990, she became the Project Manager for the IUE Workers Assistance Program to aid in the placement of displaced workers. She was also the secretary for Bill Hollow Appliance Company. Her most important job was that of a stay at home Grandmother.
Mrs. Hollow was a dedicated, inspired woman who was also an exceptional caretaker. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by 3 children; Kristina “Tina” Grunzweig and her husband Peter of Sebastian, Florida. Lisa Finnigan and her husband Kerry of Lynn and William Hollow, Jr. of Lynn. She also leaves 4 grandchildren; Taylor and Emma Grunzweig of Sebastian Florida and Daniel and Sydney Finnigan of Lynn; 2 brothers; Thomas A. Peters of Rochester Hills, Michigan and Michael A. Peters of Lynn, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mary M Kelter
Mary Margaret (Kelter) Hollow, 85, lifelong resident of Lynn, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, February 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of retired Lynn Police Chief, John "Jack" F. Hollow Sr., with whom she shared 62 years of marriage before his passing on November 18, 2021, a day that changed her life forever. Mary's family is deeply saddened by her passing but there is comfort in knowing that she is finally reunited with the love of her life, Jack.
Mary was born on November 8, 1938, in Lynn, daughter of the late Walter and Phyllis (Kane) Kelter. She was raised and educated in Lynn, attending Sacred Heart Grammar School, where she met her husband, Jack, in the first grade, and St. Mary's High School, Class of 1956. Mary and Jack married in 1959 and started a family together, raising their six children in their family home in West Lynn. Mary was employed at New England Telephone for several years and would go on to hold various secretarial positions throughout the Lynn School Department. She later became the Assistant Purchasing Agent for the City of Lynn, a title she held until her retirement in 2001.
Aside from her work, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family and friends, travelling with her husband to Las Vegas, California, and the local casinos. Her greatest treasure was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mary was a kind, caring, loving, loyal, and funny woman who made a lasting impression on all who met her.
